Whats New in Galaxy 5?
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
*NOTE* This file has been reformatted to reflect the newest
versions fixes, additions, and changes first instead of last.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
*** SPECIAL NOTICE ***
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
I am hoping that this may be the last Wide Beta release of G5. If
there are few bug reports for this version, then they will be
fixed for release with the full release, v1.10! As it -looks- like
all of the major (and minor for that matter) bugs have been fixed.

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
v1.09 Wide Beta
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Added ability to adjust amount of "looks" needed to be
successful when flirting with an "inn mate." G5 reads the
LOOKS.DAT file for these 7 amounts.
■ Added option to have G5 "shell" out to Xports, or completely
exit (as it normally did). For those having trouble with Xports,
they can now try the "shell out" option and see if it works now.
This option is set under "Setup Galaxy 5 | Misc. Options." It
also -seems- that the "swap" option runs Xports faster...
■ Fixed problem with INBATTLE.# & GO.# files being left on disk
in the TEMP subdirectory. These are temporary files used when
two players battle in node-to-node combat.
■ Fixed cosmetic glitch in the random Mudshark event. A blank line
was being drawn in the text field.
■ Fixed problem with HIT_INFO.DAT file being 0 bytes sometimes,
and therefore causing an error.
■ Fixed problem with some user names not being converted to
uppercase causing users to have to start the game over due to
not being recognized by the game.
■ Fixed what may have caused minor problems when getting food or
drink at the inn. Variable was set at Byte and tried to
generate numbers higher than 255 (the byte limit) when players
would buy food or drink, and amounts would therefore come out
as negative amounts.
■ Fixed problem with interest rates. G5 was calculating interest
rates incorrectly during maintenance.
■ Fixed "Registered To" and "Thanx To..." fields shown on the
"pre-entry" menu so they are now centered like they were
supposed to be in the first place! ;)
■ Rewrote the "List Players" routine. It is now 100% faster when
listing players. This also applies to writing the player
rankings files when G5 terminates. Its -much- faster now! ;)
■ Added error checking for every routine that reads from external
files. If there is an error, the game will not halt, and the
player will be informed of the error, as well as the SysOp via
the ERROR.LOG file.
■ Added ability for players to stay at an Xport if the Xport
supports this. 3rd party programmers, refer to the G5_STRUC.ZIP
file for information on how to do this, and how it works.
■ Added (optional) ability for players to steal the weapon and/or
armour from another player that they kill, if the opponent has
a better weapon and/or armour than their own. This is turned on
by the SysOp in G5 Setup under "Setup Galaxy 5|Misc Options"
■ Added a VERSION.DAT file for 3rd party programmers (and for me
in fact). This is a normal text file containing only the version
number of Galaxy 5 running. It is located in the DATA
subdirectory.
■ Fixed problem with maintenance not correctly deleting players
that it was supposed to despite the maintenance routine showing
them deleted.
■ Fixed problem with players committing suicide and their macros
not also being deleted (if they had any recorded).
■ Added a <PAUSE> prompt when trying to escape from an enemy, and
you cannot escape.
■ Added support for MegaHost BBS's MEGAHST#.DEF drop file.
■ Added support for WWIV's CHAIN.TXT drop file.
■ Added option to abort paging another online user into battle by
pressing the ESC key during the page.
■ Added ability to change the delay factor of the hovering disc
that the guy gives you the opportunity to shoot in the
warfields (random event). This is for those systems where the
disc flew either too fast or too slow. The default value is 40.
To change the value, create a file named DELAY.DAT with only the
value you wish to use as the very first line, very first column,
and place it in your DATA subdirectory. This value can be
anywhere between 1 and 255. Increasing the value will slow down
the disc, decreasing it will speed it up.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Changes in G5 Editor v1.09 Wide Beta
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Added the "flirt amounts" editor for editing the amounts in the
LOOKS.DAT file.
■ Fixed cosmetic glitch in the "Pick Files Editor." When pressing
F3 to pick a new file to edit, the name of the file picked would
not be shown at the top of the box, it would read the same as
the last file being edited.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Changes in G5 Setup v1.09 Wide Beta
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Added the option to set the "swap out for xports" option to YES
or NO. Located under "Setup Galaxy 5|Misc. Options"
■ Added the option to set the "Allow Stealing of Weapons/Armour
option to YES or NO. Located under "Setup Galaxy 5|Misc.
Options"
■ Added MegaHost drop file selections in node setup.
■ Added WWIV drop file selections in node setup (CHAIN.TXT).
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Changes in INSTALL.EXE v1.09 Wide Beta
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Fixed problem with "Runtime Error 002" when installing (or
upgrading) the game to the same directory running INSTALL from.
■ When INSTALL searches for a copy of GALAXY5.EXE on the chosen
drive letter, if it finds more than one, it will give you a pick
list of which directory to choose. You can still change the
target directory afterwards by manually typing it in.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
v1.08 Wide Beta
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Fixed problem with Boko helping you out during a warrior droid
fight (if you have met Boko the same day), and thus not being
progressed to the next level.
■ Fixed a problem that I -thought- I fixed a long time ago! Lock
ups when changing your name with the bartender and using an
invalid G5 code. This is fixed for sure now! ;>
■ Fixed problem with players being allowed to continue to play
after getting killed by the "Biker Dude" at the biker bar.
■ Fixed problem with players being erased from the game when days
before deleting inactive players was set to 0.
■ Fixed it so that players cannot ask about the "Titanium Long
Sword" more than once when they are level 15. This never hurt
anything, but nonetheless, it has been corrected.
■ Fixed problem with players buying weapons, armour and/or space
crafts above number 10. Ya big cheaters! ;)
■ Fixed a problem in the NODE*.DAT file. The COMPORT line wasn't
reading COMPORT before the com port number in some cases. Not
sure if this has caused any problems yet, but it has been fixed
nonetheless.
■ Fixed problem with MuDsHaRK sometimes visiting when players flew
to the 6th planet. He wasn't supposed to pop up at all here! ;)
■ Got a new RAVEN.ANS ansi from the MuDsHaRK. Also added a new
RAVEN2.ANS, shown just before the Raven Morpheous speaks.
■ Fixed problem with players being married to "DELETED." This
happened when the player another player was married to, got
deleted from the game from either suicide, or lack of play as
set by the SysOp.
■ Fixed problem with mail scrolling up the screen (blankly). This
happened when mail was written to a players mail file
improperly. G5 now checks for the problem and will not lock-up.
■ Fixed a few mispelled words here and there.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Changes in G5 Editor v1.08 Wide Beta
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Fixed problem with lockups during reading some players mail
files. This was due to improper G5 ~ codes being used in the
mail. The editor now checks for them just like the game does.
■ Fixed problem with screen not restoring properly when pressing
F1 for help in the "skills editor" area. After pressing "Ok"
when finished reading the help, the screen did not restore.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Changes in INSTALL.EXE v1.08 Wide Beta
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Added a drive letter pick list for choosing the drive to install
the game to.
■ Added error checking for proper extraction of the game files
from within the G5.ZIP archive. Install would not unpack the
game files on some systems, but would continue with
installation.
■ Now searches the chosen drive for an existing copy of Galaxy 5.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
v1.07 Wide Beta
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Ok, I do believe I -finally- fixed the problem with EMS not
being released after the game exits (yay)! At least it works on
my system. My total available EMS is the same after I'm done
playing as it was before I start the game.
■ A not so important "bug" was fixed. When falling in the pit, and
choosing to consume a drink, the purple liquid was spelled
liquit. A minor oversight on my part. ;>
■ When viewing todays news, and selecting to view yesterdays news,
if there is no news for yesterday, it will tell you so, then
continue reading todays news instead of leaving the news.
■ Fixed problem with lockups at the "Bartender."
■ Fixed problem with G5_TMP_$.### files -STILL- being left on
disk when they should have been getting erased (again).
■ Added a new random event when going to another planet.
■ Fixed runtime error 106 during player fights. Added error
checking for this error, and if it occurs, the player is told
"Error reading from temporary player fight file!"
■ Fixed it so that when players select to go to another planet, if
they choose the number of the same planet they are currently on,
it will not show them going to the planet. It tells them that is
the planet they are on and lets them decide again.
■ Added a TEXT subdirectory to hold all of those *.TXT files
(except for REGISTER.TXT). This keeps the home G5 directory from
getting too cluttered.
■ Fixed problem with pressing "?" at the biker bar to redisplay
the menu taking you back to the warfields.
■ Added an ANSI file (and ASCII version) displayed to the caller
when the game is starting up (BEAMING.ANS & BEAMING.ASC),
instead of just writing "Transporting To Galaxy 5..." to the
upper left corner (if you wish to keep using the "Transporting"
message, just delete the BEAMING.* files).
■ Added the ability to run a PRELOG.BAT file. This works in the
same manner as the LOGON.BAT file except that it runs right
after initializing the program, BEFORE the player is taken into
the game (even before the player reaches the "pre-play menu."
This one CANNOT be used to run Xports, or any other utilities
that require reading of the G5 drop files!
■ Also added the ability to run a LOGOFF.BAT file. This one works
in the exact same manner as the PRELOG.BAT file, except that it
is ran right before G5 actually exits back to the BBS.
■ Fixed problem when an "Inn Mate" agrees to go upstairs with a
player, and the game showing the players krills on hand as the
one going upstairs with them, instead of the Inn Mates name!
■ Added support for Xports that can kill players. G5 will not
allow them to continue if they have been killed in an Xport.
■ Fixed problem with players in Xports being marked as "Not on
now" and their info being taken from the G5_ON.DAT file (the
temp file located in the TEMP subdirectory that shows who is
online at the moment).
■ Made it so that when a player gets a divorce, his/her looks go
back down to 10 (if their looks were higher than 10).
■ Fixed problem with mail being sent to the last player in the
data file when a player divorces an "Inn Mate." It no longer
writes mail since there is no actual person to receive it.
■ Fixed problem with runtime error 209 coming up sometimes when
the game is exiting.
■ Changed a few of the ANSI's to reflect a more, "spacey" theme.
■ Added new INN#.ANS ANSI's.
■ Fixed it so that players who have been killed who can not play
again until tomorrow can still view the news and receive any
new mail if they try to go back into the game.
■ Updated some of the structure files in G5_STRUC.ZIP.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Changes in G5 Setup v1.07 Wide Beta
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Fixed problem in the "Register Galaxy 5" option. When saving a
file to disk, run-time error 160 occured when saving the file.
■ Added an option for deleting players with only 100 skill during
daily maintenance. 98% of the time, players with only 100 (or
200 in the case of an assasin) skill, usually never play again
after entering the game once.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Changes in G5 Editor v1.07 Wide Beta
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Fixed problem with the mate editor showing the guys name as a
number. This only happened if the player editor has been loaded
prior to loading the mate editor.
■ Same as above for the Enemy Editor! :> The enemy's weapon was
being shown as a number after loading the player editor.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
v1.06 Wide Beta
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Fixed a few problems with the dropfiles that G5 creates for
Xport support. When 0 was used for IRQ number in NODE*.CFG (for
use fossil driver), the COM port number wasn't being written to
the NODE*.DAT drop file, and the DORINFO*.DEF file that G5
creates read incorrect COM port info. It wuz writing just the
comport number, when it should have read COM4 (4 being replaced
with the proper COM port number).
■ Added a "-=≡Continue? [Yes/no]" prompt to the routine that
displays a text file to the user. This prompt comes up every 23
lines if the file is longer than 23 lines, and allows the user
to stop reading the file, or continue reading it. It used to be
a <PAUSE> prompt, and did not allow you to stop reading.
■ Added an option for the player to view the MAC_HELP.DAT file in
case they need help with recording macros. This file is located
in your DATA subdirectory, and can be edited to your likings.
Callers can read this file from the "Record Macros" menu.
■ In the new ANSI's of v1.05, I forgot to add the (T)ransfer
Krills option to the BANK.ANS screen. This has been corrected.
The BANK.ANS & BANK.ASC screens are also new anyhow! ;>
■ Added a random event when fighting in the warfields (and getting
your butt kicked). This event can only happen if you had an
encounter with Boko earlier in the day! ;>
■ Shareware version can now go up to level 8 instead of 6. There
are 15 levels total.
■ Fixed problem with number of power moves not being reduced by
one when players used one during an enemy fight.
■ Added the "B" option to the menu prompt at the bank (Buy Energy
Coins). The option was always available, just wasn't being shown
at the prompt like it should have been.
■ Made the fight against the Raven just a little bit easier. It
seemed nearly impossible to beat him sometimes! ;>
■ When using a power move against an enemy in the warfields, it
will no longer automatically kill the enemy, but will almost (if
not) double the amount of damage in your hit. What happens after
that depends on the enemy's current health and other factors.
■ Fixed a little typo with gender...the Raven always stated, "I
know why you are here little man.." for both male and female
players. This has been fixed to reflect the proper gender.
■ Quit using Pklite to compress the .EXE files. It was causing
lockups on some systems running under Qemm.
■ Fixed problem with cost to hire a player to hire another player
to kill another player not being allowed over 32,768. It can now
be as high as 2,147,483,647.
■ Fixed problem with marrying more than one other person being
allowed.
■ Fixed problem with hit men hired by more than one player not
getting paid for all of the hits if they were made.
■ Made the enemy fights just a _little_ bit harder.
■ Fixed a problem with a cheat code that wasn't giving what it
said it gave.
■ Fixed the (D)ive into pool option to totally revitalize your
health like it was supposed to.
■ Updated (or replaced) a few more of the ANSI's thanx to da
MudShaRk! ;>
■ -Finally- fixed the problem with G5_TMP_$.### files being left
on disk in the TEMP subdirectory! Where ### is a random number.
These were files containing quoted text when replying to
messages.
■ When reading todays news, and selecting to view yesterdays news,
if there was no news for yesterday, it would tell you so and
quit showing the news. This has been changed so that it goes
back to continue showing todays news instead of exiting from
reading the news.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Changes in INSTALL.EXE v1.06 Wide Beta
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Will not overwrite your XPORTS.DAT file anymore with a blank one
if upgrading from a previous version.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Changes in G5 Setup v1.06 Wide Beta
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Fixed help screens for the options, "Register Galaxy 5" and
"Quit Setup." Register option was showing the help screen for
the Quit setup option when F1 was pressed, and the Quit option
had no help screen.
■ Added an "UNREGISTERED!" reminder after exiting. ;>
■ Redone the "Register Galaxy 5" option to match the new format of
the REGISTER.TXT form.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Changes in G5 Editor v1.06 Wide Beta
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Added a "Skill Amounts" editor. This will allow you to set the
required amount of skill points needed for each warrior on each
level to advance to the next level. This allows you to make the
game last longer, or shorten it. Only registered versions will
save any changes made via the G5 Editor, however unregistered
users can still change the skill amounts by editing the
SKILLS.DAT text file in the DATA subdirectory.
■ Added the option to delete a players mail when viewing their
mail (with the [F7] Mail option). You can now press the DEL key
to erase all of the players mail which you are currently
viewing.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
v1.05 Wide Beta
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Increased the possible amount of looks you can get in a random
event that awards look points.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Changes in G5 Editor v1.05 Wide Beta
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Fixed a BIG time mistake on my part. G5 Editor wouldn't even
start up in v1.04, gave a run-time error 103. This has been
fixed. Sorry people! :(
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
v1.04 Wide Beta
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Fixed problem with invalid G5 codes being used locking up the
game.
■ Got some ANSI's from da MudShark! More coming soon! ;>
■ Fixed glitch where if you flirted with someone at an inn, asking
them up to your room and they rejected you, the game telling the
player his/her skill was increased by 1,000, and it wasn't (and
still isn't).
■ Fixed it so that players cannot ask a mate at the inns up to a
room if the game is being run clean.
■ Added a "Searching For Dupes..." message when a new player
enters the game, and it searches for duplicate handles. This is
just so the caller doesn't think it locked up or something while
it is searching.
■ "Pre-Play Menu" now shows who to give credit to for registering
Galaxy 5 for you (if anyone). This is an optional feature to
registered users. The name to be shown is set up in G5 Setup.
■ Fixed bug with taking "Inn Mate" up to a room, and it displaying
your amount of money in pocket instead of the name of the inn
mate.
■ Added support for 3rd party authors who do not use Turbo Pascal
to write Xports for the game. Refer to the text files located
inside the G5_STRUC.ZIP archive for full information.
■ Fixed problem with level 15 warriors being confronted by a
warrior droid without a name, and being progressed to level 16
(which isn't even supposed to exist BTW).
■ Prices of rooms at the inns are now configurable by the SysOp
via a new file located in the DATA subdirectory, INNCOSTS.DAT.
There are 15 prices in this file, one for each player rank.
■ There is a random feature that can happen to players at the bank
once in a while, but there was something in the code that
stopped it from ever coming up. I fixed that little problem...
■ Added feature where if a player who does not have a hyper bike
kills another player who does, he/she can take the bike from the
player he/she killed (if they choose to do so).
■ Fixed problem with when getting married to someone at on of the
inns, it showing that you walked up the stairs with him/her.
■ Added a new random event in the warfields. Its a deep, dark,
black hole in the ground...you'll see! ;>
■ Made "Warrior Droid" fights a little more challenging.
■ Added a routine when maintenance is ran that checks the MAIL
subdirectory for any mail that exists to a deleted account. Even
though when deleting a player via the game, or the G5 Editor,
this is done automatically, this was added as an added
precaution. ;>
■ Still working on a problem with EMS memory not being released
after Galaxy 5 exits. I got the amount not being released
reduced some, but it will still sometimes not give it all back.
■ Added error checking for proper path names of output scores
bulletins.
■ Added a timer that shows on local screen when/if an output
scores bulletin is locked by Galaxy 5 on another node. It will
wait 10 seconds, then "unlock" the output file if it doesn't
unlock after the countdown and write it (the output file).
■ Added a percentage status when the game runs maintenence. Shows
all the way up to 100% how much it has finished for each
maintenence routine.
■ Added macro support. Its not very fancy, but it works! ;> Refer
to GALAXY5.DOC for info on how to use them.
■ If a player used a power move against a warrior droid, it wasn't
decreasing their amount of power moves left. This has been
fixed.
■ Replaced all internal "Light Black (or dark gray)" colors with
light blue. The light black color doesn't show up on some comm.
terminals. The light black color was color code ~08~.
■ Galaxy 5 used to write one blank line after displaying any
display file. This has been changed. If you are upgrading, and
if you choose NOT to install the new ANSI & ASCII screens, then
you will more than likely have to edit your own to add one blank
line at the end of each file if you want a blank line to be
written between the display and the menu prompt.
■ Fixed problem with "Local Node 1" logons not being able to use
Xports. G5 was passing the com port of your node 1 config file
to the Xport when being run in local mode, when it should have
been passing 0 when the game is being played locally.
■ Added the ? option at the bank to redisplay the menu. It should
have been there from day one, however it wasn't. ;>
■ Fixed problem with the game not increasing your lays by one if
an inn mate agreed to sleep with you.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Changes In G5 Setup v1.04 Wide Beta
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ "Reset Game" option now writes new INNTALK*.DAT files, and
erases any files that may exist in the TEMP subdirectory.
■ "Setup Galaxy 5" option is broken up into 4 different categories
for easier setup.
■ Fixed bug under "Node Setup" with setting DORINFO*.DEF systems
to DORINFO.DEF and not letting you enter DORINFO1.DEF,
DORINFO2.DEF, etc. The program was always setting it to
DORINFO.DEF. This has been fixed.
■ Added new field in "Miscellaneous" under "Setup Galaxy 5" for
entering the name of whoever registered the game for you if
anyone, or you can put your own name here, or leave it blank.
Whatever name is entered here is the name that will be shown at
the pre-play menu as "Thanks to John Doe for registering
Galaxy 5!" (registered versions only).
■ SysOps welcome message text file no longer has to reside in your
home Galaxy 5 directory. G5 Setup now accepts a full path and
file name for your welcome message text file.
■ Added a field that allows you to turn off loading the overlay
file into EMS.
■ Added options to allow or disallow selling and/or buying of
energy coins at the bank, and an option to set the cost of the
coins.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Changes In G5 Editor v1.04 Wide Beta
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Added "Room Prices" editor under "Prices" on the main menu. This
allows you to change the prices of what a room costs at the inns
for each player ranking.
■ Fixed the prices editors so that they only accept numbers (since
that is all that is allowed anyhow).
■ Added a "Saved" box that pops up when F10 is pressed after
editing something to let you know your info was saved
(registered versions only).
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Changes In INSTALL.EXE v1.04 Wide Beta
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Now does a more thorough search for an existing Galaxy 5
directory before asking you what directory you want to install
it to (does NOT scan your hard drive, just looks for a few
possible directories).
■ INSTALL will automatically convert your configuration data file
for you (if you are upgrading), if it is missing the fields that
were added in v1.04 Wide Beta.
■ Implemented better upgrade options. Now lets you choose which
parts you want to upgrade.
■ Added an internal check for the G5.ZIP file. If it doesn't
exist, then INSTALL can not (and will not) continue.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
v1.03 Wide Beta
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Fixed problem with a lockup when trying to use one of the cheat
codes (I'm not saying where ;> ).
■ Corrected typo in the 5th planet name. The "raw" name was
correct, but the fancy name read the same as the 3rd planet
(Bantini). This has been corrected.
■ Fixed it so that players can not flirt with same person (other
player) more than once a day.
■ Raised skill points needed to advance to next rank for all
ranks. Players were advancing much too quickly!
■ Tweaked the warfield fights a little so that it moves a little
faster (and still working on speeding things up).
■ Changed default colors of the fourth planet (Gorn) from dark and
light blue to brown and yellow. The dark blue was just too dark!
■ Fixed problem with the game not decreasing the amount of
medicines a player had on hand after drinking one in a player
fight.
■ Fixed problem with sentences that were too long in the news
files not wrapping correctly.
■ When players enter their own string of text to say in the news
after killing another player, or getting killed, changed it so
that if they choose no to the "Is This Ok?" prompt, it takes
them back to entering their text again, instead of just asking
for their feeling again.
■ Because of the above fix, the amount of text a player can enter
when saying something themselves, has been increased to 70
characters instead of 45.
■ Added a few more feelings to the pick list when asked how you
feel after a kill or getting killed.
■ Added an option when fighting enemies in the warfields that lets
you fight your enemy to the death. Choosing this option will
automatically keep attacking the enemy until you or the enemy is
dead, so use it with caution! ;>
■ Fixed problem with ~K#~ (highest number of player kills by the
person holding this record), displaying a number other than 0
when no one holds the record for highest number of player kills.
■ Fixed problem in the Help Menu when selecting to download a help
file, if RIPTERM.DAT did not exist (text file containing full
path and file name of archived RIPterm), it would say downloads
were not allowed. The RIPTERM.DAT file is completely unrelated
to downloading help files, and only applies to downloading
RIPterm. The game was treating it otherwise. This has been fixed.
■ Included a HELP.TXT file that explains the setup of doors,
fossil drivers, locked baud rates, etc. It is primarily for
beginning SysOps, who are still unfamiliar with door setup.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Changes In G5 Editor v1.03 Wide Beta
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Added the price editor. It allows you to set the prices of
weapons, armour, and space crafts (registered versions only).
Unregistered users can still evaluate this feature, but it will
not save changes.
■ Fixed problem when editing a "pick file," and it would ask you
if you want to save your changes, if you chose yes, it would not
save the changes. This has been fixed.
■ Fixed problem with adding a new player, and the record number
not getting set to the proper number.
■ Fixed cosmetic glitch in the planet editor. The help line near
the bottom of the editing box for the light and dark color code
fields were switched. The dark color code fields help line read,
"This is the light color code for this planet." And the dark
color code fields help line read that it was the light color
code for this planet.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Changes In G5 Setup v1.03 Wide Beta
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Added an option that will allow you to enter all of the required
registration info, and either print it to your printer, or save
it to a file on disk.
■ Changed the "Create Fresh Data Files" option so that you can now
choose which file you want to recreate, or you can choose all.
The command line parameter for this option has also changed in
order to support this new feature (type G5SETUP /? on the
command line for info).
■ Fixed a cosmetic glitch with the "F2 Pick" & "SPACEBAR Toggle"
options not being highlighted when editing the "COM Port #"
field under "Node Setup." Use of F2 and SPACEBAR for choosing
your COM port in this field is supported (always has been).

■ Corrected problem with ~K?~ codes not displaying the proper
information (highest player kills and who holds title). By
default, these codes are used in the P_KILL.* display files.
These display files are shown at the "Kill Other Players" menu.
On the line that says, "Player is the meanest murderer in the
galaxy with 23 kills!." Sometimes the wrong player would be
displayed here as having the highest number of player kills.
■ Fixed problem with users with only a first name (as read from
the BBS drop file) not being able to use Xports.

v1.01 Wide Beta

■ Made enemy fights a little more smoother. Galaxy 5 now makes a
copy of the ENEMIES.DAT file in the TEMP subdirectory dedicating
this copy to the current node. This way, the ENEMIES.DAT file
does not have to be accessed every time a player looks for
something to kill in the warfields. The dedicated copy can
remain open until the player leaves the warfields. This copy is
also erased after the player leaves the game.
■ Corrected an error on my part in the G5_STRUC.PAS file
(structures to data files used in the game). I changed something
in the structure of the G5_MATES.DAT file after I created the
G5_STRUC.PAS file, and forgot to make the change in the
G5_STRUC.PAS file. To see what it should look like, refer to the
G5_STRUC.PAS file.
